Adapt screen brightness and colors
iOS devices
Set the brightness in Control Center:
- How to access Control Center:
- On an iPhone 8 or earlier or an iPod touch, swipe up from the bottom of your screen.
- On an iPhone X or later, or an iPad with iOS 12 or iPadOS, swipe down from the top right corner of your screen.
- Adjust the brightness to your preference by dragging the bar up or down.
Set the brightness and color temperature to your preference in Settings:
- Go to "Settings" > "Display & Brightness".
- Drag the slider left and right to adjust the brightness.
- Here you can also turn on other options such as Dark Mode, True Tone, and Night Shift.
- Dark Mode: Gentle and easy on the eyes. Dark Mode makes use of a dark color scheme that works with your device’s apps as well as third-party ones.
- True Tone: Your default bestie! True Tone adjusts the color and intensity of your screen based on ambient light. In other words, when you’re in a dark place the screen will dim, and when you’re in a bright place, the screen will brighten.
- Night Shift: On the warmer end of the spectrum, Night Shift is also easy on the eyes. You can enable it by going to "Settings" > "Display & Brightness" > "Night Shift". Here you’ll find the color-temperature slider.
Android devices
- Go to your "Settings" > "Brightness" and then drag the bar left and right to adjust the brightness.
- Click "Automatic" if you want the brightness to adjust automatically based on ambient light.
- Select "Dark theme" to select black as your default color theme.
- Select "Comfort" or "Color" and choose your preferred screen settings.
Reset auto-brightness settings
You can turn the auto-brightness feature on and off by going to "Settings" > "Accessibility" > "Display & Text Size".
