Back Market items are reborn devices with a past life, and as detailed as our sellers are, a device can be blocklisted after a seller has already checked and refurbished the device.
When it comes to refurbished electronics, we work hard to make sure that the devices sold by our sellers on Back Market aren't blocklisted through quality testing and diagnostics. However, we also understand that sometimes a bad apple will find its way into a batch of good ones.
If you receive a blocklisted device contact us and we'll help you start a return immediately. Contact Back Market Customer Care
What is a blocklisted phone?
When a phone is blocklisted, it is blocked and becomes unusable with a mobile plan.
Any carrier can blocklist the IMEI number of a device and block the phone from receiving service. A phone can be blocklisted when a contract isn't paid off or if the phone was reported stolen or lost by the owner.
When blocklisted, the phone becomes unusable with other carriers and cannot be activated. Only carriers like T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon can blocklist devices and remove them from the blocklist.
How can I check if my device is blocklisted?
To check if your device is blocklisted, you'll need the device's IMEI number:
- For Android, go to "Settings" > "About".
- For iPhone, go to "Settings" > "General" > "About".
- Or go to "Settings" and search for "IMEI".
- Or dial *#06#
Once you have the IMEI, we can check for you. Contact Back Market Customer Care
