All devices sold on Back Market go through a rigorous refurbishment process under strict quality control requirements. Since battery health and life are often top-of-mind for refurb shoppers, we wrote up about what you can expect of both. If you find that your device’s battery isn’t living up to these standards, or if you're getting the message “Service recommended” in the battery section of System Preferences, please reach out to Back Market Customer Care by logging in to your Back Market account > My orders > "Ask for help".
First things first, what’s the difference between battery health and battery life? A battery’s state of health refers to its ability to store and deliver electrical energy compared with a new battery. Battery life is how long your battery lasts after being fully charged.
Battery health
Every Back Market vetted MacBook battery must have an initial capacity of at least 85% at the time you receive your device.
Good to know: If you purchased a MacBook with a brand-new battery, your device must have a charging capacity of 100% when you receive it.
To check your MacBook’s state of health, you can download the coconutBattery app and check the percentage bar under “Design Capacity”, as shown in the image below.
Battery life of your Mac by model
Our expert technicians created a table showing the relative battery life you can expect from your device by model. This table is solely for information purposes and may not be perfectly accurate since battery life varies by use and configuration.
If you need to know the model of your MacBook, you can find it on the device itself, on its Back Market product page, or in your order confirmation email.
