If your device has a display issue, try these tips from our in-house tech experts for a quick fix.
Adapt screen brightness and colors
iOS devices
Set the brightness in Control Center:
How to access Control Center:
On an iPhone 8 or earlier or an iPod touch, swipe up from the bottom of your screen.
On an iPhone X or later, or an iPad with iOS 12 or iPadOS, swipe down from the top right corner of your screen.
Adjust the brightness to your preference by dragging the bar up or down.
Set the brightness and color temperature to your preference in Settings:
Go to "Settings" > "Display & Brightness".
Drag the slider left and right to adjust the brightness.
Here you can also turn on other options such as Dark Mode, True Tone, and Night Shift.
Dark Mode: Gentle and easy on the eyes. Dark Mode makes use of a dark color scheme that works with your device’s apps as well as third-party ones.
True Tone: Your default bestie! True Tone adjusts the color and intensity of your screen based on ambient light. In other words, when you’re in a dark place the screen will dim, and when you’re in a bright place, the screen will brighten.
Night Shift: On the warmer end of the spectrum, Night Shift is also easy on the eyes. You can enable it by going to "Settings" > "Display & Brightness" > "Night Shift". Here you’ll find the color-temperature slider.
Android devices
Go to your "Settings" > "Brightness" and then drag the bar left and right to adjust the brightness.
Click "Automatic" if you want the brightness to adjust automatically based on ambient light.
Select "Dark theme" to select black as your default color theme.
Select "Comfort" or "Color" and choose your preferred screen settings.
Reset auto-brightness settings
You can turn the auto-brightness feature on and off by going to "Settings" > "Accessibility" > "Display & Text Size".
If you want to reset the brightness settings, turn off auto-brightness and then turn it back on.
