About Fairphone and the devices
Fairphone is a company based in the Netherlands (Amsterdam), created in 2013 which produces smartphones with minimal environmental impact.
Fairphone devices are produced in fair labor conditions with recycled material when it has been possible. They do not contain conflict resources. Devices are modular for an easier repair or replacement of defective components.

Note the Fairphone 3 and 3+ won’t support 5G for technology reasons.
What about accessories?
Because fighting for a cleaner planet starts with the smallest gestures, Fairphones are sold without accessories (no charger, no earphones).

Do you need help to use your Fairphone ? Here are some tips
If you are facing a charging issue, please follow the simple steps. They will help to know if the issue is the charging plug or the charger.
- Turn off your devices and plug in your charger
- Try out different chargers
- Check your USB port
- Test your devices: Dial *#*#66#*#* as you dial a phone number: the Service Menu will appear.
- Select Service tests > Test Single.
- Press Battery status check. This test displays battery-related measuring values.
- Take two Screenshots: first when you are charging the device and then when you are not and send them to us via your Back Market customer account
If the result of the test is not good or if you still have an issue, please contact Fairphone through your Back Market customer account
Does the issue happen only while using 3rd-party apps (like for example WhatsApp calls, Facebook, etc.)?
If yes, please, do the following steps:
- Backup your data, uninstall and reinstall the app.
- Reboot your Fairphone 3/Fairphone 3+ in Safe mode.
- Make a call to test if the same issue persists. If yes, please, answer the following questions:
- Does it happen during every call or only with certain phone numbers?
- Does it happen only from a certain location or everywhere?
Check and test your SIM Card: is it newer than one year? Does it work on another phone?
If your issue is still not solved, open the conversation with Fairphone, through your Back Market customer account.
This concerns abnormalities, color issues, distorted image, blank spots etc, excluding touchscreen.
Before contacting Fairphone through your Back Market customer account, we need your help to test the device and diagnose the problem. Please follow the steps:
- Dial *#*#66#*#* as you dial a phone number: the Service Menu will appear.
- Select Service tests > Test Single.
- Press Display. The screen will change colour after each of your taps. Look specifically for any screen abnormalities, I.e. blank spots, etc.
- If possible, take a picture with another device about the issue and send it to us through your Back Market customer account.
When you decide to stop the test, tap Back navigation key. Choose FAIL or PASS accordingly.
In order to test the device and diagnose the problem, please follow the steps:
- Dial *#*#66#*#* as you dial a phone number: the Service Menu will appear.
- Select Service tests > Test Single.
- Press Display. The screen will change colour after each of your taps. Look specifically for any screen abnormalities, I.e. blank spots, etc.
- If possible, take a picture with another device about the issue and send it to us.
Then, reboot your Fairphone 3/Fairphone 3+ in Safe mode and run the test one more time as described in the previous steps.
Finally, to exclude the possibility of a software configuration issue, it is recommended to perform a Factory Reset. This step will be needed in any case if you need to send your phone to Fairphone’s repair center.
