Taking photos of your item before you send it off protects you in case anything happens in transit. That’s why it’s a required step for Trade-in. You don’t need to send us these photos, just keep them stored somewhere safe in case they’re needed in the future.
Regardless of the item, the photos must:
- Be clear and bright
- Show no reflection on the screen
- Show your shipping label
- Show your mailing kit, if you received one

Photos of smartphones & tablets
Your photos should capture these parts of the device:
- Front screen switched on (if possible)
- Front screen switched off
- Back
- Left edge
- Right edge
- Top edge
- Bottom edge
- Charging port
Photos of MacBooks
Your photos should capture these parts of the device:
- Front screen switched on (if possible)
- Front screen switched off
- Top of the computer
- Right edge (with the screen slightly open)
- Left edge (with the screen slightly open)
- Front edge (screen closed)
- Back
- Charging ports
Other items
For all other items, take photos of your item from all angles. Make sure to include closeups of important features, and check that there isn’t a reflection on any screens.
Keep in mind that these photos will be your protection if something goes wrong during shipping. So, the more detailed, the better!
