If resetting your Beats does not resolve your audio or pairing issues, try cleaning the earbuds. Here's how...
Clean your Beats
It’s important to keep the ear tips on your Beats clean. Don’t wear them if they’re dirty!
Hot tips:
- Use a dry cloth to clean your Beats.
- Use a wet cloth to clean the ear tips — remove them from your Beats first, and be sure to rinse and dry them before placing them back on your earbuds.
Remember: Refurbished earbuds and protective cases are not waterproof. Don’t submerge them in water.
Take care of your earbuds:
- Don’t allow your Beats to come into contact with liquid or humidity.
- Disconnect your earbuds correctly. It’s best to remove the charger from the case rather than unplugging the cable from the power source.
Store them properly:
- Always store your earbuds in their protective case and avoid contact with sunlight, heat, or cold.
Take care of your lightning cable:
If you experience a charging issue because of the cable, clean it like so:
- Disconnect the cable from all devices and power sources.
- Clean the cable with a dry and soft cloth — don’t use liquids or cleaning products.
Resetting and/or cleaning should resolve your audio issue. However, if your Beats still don't pair properly try these additional troubleshooting options:
Other things to double-check
Location: We recommend that you place your Beats near the device you want to pair it to — try to keep them within 30 feet of one another. Make sure to keep them away from other Bluetooth devices and all household or electronic appliances that emit waves, as this can interfere with the connection.
Settings: The settings of the device that you want to pair your Beats may differ from device to device:
- iPhone/iPad/iPod: go to "Settings" > "Bluetooth" > and select your Beats.
- MacBook: go to the Apple menu > "System Preferences" > "Sound". Make sure your Beats are selected in "Output and Input".
- PC: go to the sound settings of your laptop and select your Beats as the audio component.
Forget device option: Still unable to pair? Try the following steps as a last resort:
- iPhone/iPad/iPod: go to "Settings" > "Bluetooth" and select the blue “Info” button next to the name of your Beats and click “Forget This Device”.
- MacBook: go to the Apple menu > "System Preferences" > "Bluetooth" and select your Beats device. Select “X” and select “Forget Device.”

How do I charge my Beats?
Place the earbuds inside the case, close it, and then connect it to a power source with the cable that came with your device.
How to check the battery level:
- iPhone/iPad/iPod touch: Turn your device on, and make sure that it’s properly connected to your Beats. Then, put the earbuds in the case — leave it open. Place the earbuds within 2 inches of your unlocked Apple device and a window should appear that shows the battery level.
- MacBook: Look for the Bluetooth menu in the upper right corner of your MacBook. Select your model of Beats to determine the battery level.
- Android: You can use the Beats for Android app to check the battery level of your earbuds and their charging case.
About the red light
If the red light is on, the battery is at less than 40%. If it is blinking, you should reset your earbuds.
