What condition will my device be in?
The quality of testing and refurbishment is crucial to the reliability of renewed items. That’s why our sellers must comply with our Quality Charter and meet our strict refurbishing criteria.
To create greater transparency, we’ve implemented a grading system that reflects the appearance as well as the technical condition of our various items. The technical condition is the quality of refurbishment that you can expect from an item — based on our assessment of seller operations/processes and their historical performance.
While all the devices on our site are guaranteed to have 100% functionality, the highest technical condition rating indicates durability comparable to a new device, making it much less likely for you to encounter technical problems during the lifetime of your item. You can choose from three conditions:
Appearance: Like new. The body may have very light micro-scratches, invisible at a distance of 8 inches (a bit longer than a standard-sized pencil) or more. For items with screens, the screen will have no scratches.
Technical Condition: Excellent. Durability scores are high, and chances of encountering technical issues are very low.
Appearance: Light signs of wear. The body may have light micro-scratches, invisible at a distance of 20 inches (about an arm’s length) or more. For items with screens, the screen will have no scratches.
Technical Condition: Very Good. Durability scores are above average, and chances of encountering technical issues are low.
Appearance: Signs of wear. The body may have a few visible scratches and dents that do not affect performance. For items with screens, the screen may have light scratches, invisible when the screen is on.
Technical Condition: Good. Durability scores are average and still correspond with the quality levels required by our quality charter.
Why aren't there actual photos of the devices?
All Back Market devices have a past life, so it's impossible to show photos that accurately reflect the exact condition of the devices selected. However, if after receiving your item you decide that you’d like a different grade, you can benefit from our 30-day money-back guarantee.
What if the item doesn't match the grade I ordered?
If the appearance of your device doesn't match the grade description, you can open a service request with the refurbisher by logging in to your customer account. Go to "My orders" and click on the "Ask for help" button. For the fastest turnaround time, please include photos of the device from every angle and upload them to the service request.
After the request is submitted, the refurbisher will respond within 1 business day to arrange an exchange or refund, whichever you prefer.
How are they cleaned and refurbished?
Each item on our site is cleaned, tested, and certified by our sellers. All devices are put back on factory reset and wiped clean, erasing any previous personal data to give you a brand new user experience. In addition, all batteries (smartphones, tablets, laptops, etc.) are guaranteed to have at least 80% of their original capacity.
Our sellers repair and refurbish devices using compatible or original parts. They commit to using parts supplied by reliable, high-quality manufacturers. If you’re not completely satisfied with a device you’ve purchased on our site, you have 30 days to return the item and request a full refund. Your happiness is our top priority!
