Your foldable device features an infinity flex display made with ultra-thin glass — a smartphone design breakthrough that allows flexibility and durability in a compact form.
Because this advanced foldable glass technology is more delicate than conventional displays, it requires special handling to maintain peak performance and longevity.
Follow our care guidelines below to keep your device looking and functioning at its best.
Can I tap the screen with anything I want?
You should avoid using hard or sharp objects like pens, keys, or even your fingernails on the screen. The Galaxy Z Flip uses ultra-thin glass, which can be damaged by too much pressure. Instead, tap the screen lightly with your finger to help protect the surface and maintain its performance.
Note that if the screen gets damaged from excessive force, it might not be covered by your warranty, and repairs could come at an extra cost.
Can I open the phone by sticking my fingers between the screens?
It’s best not to open your phone by prying it from the middle. Doing so can scratch or puncture the display. You should always unfold the device by gently pulling it open from the sides where it's designed to be handled.
Can I leave small items on the screen when I fold it?
No. Before folding the phone, make sure there’s nothing on the screen — no coins, cards, or any other objects. Even small items can cause serious damage when the phone is closed. Always fold the device before storing it in a bag or pocket.
Can I use my foldable phone around water or in dusty areas?
The Galaxy Z Flip isn’t water- or dust-resistant, so you’ll want to keep it away from moisture, dust, and small particles. Using it in humid conditions can also cause the touchscreen to malfunction.
Can I put my own screen protector or stickers on the screen?
You shouldn’t add your own film or stickers. The phone comes with a specially designed protective film that helps guard the screen. If it needs replacing, always use a film approved by the manufacturer to ensure the best protection and performance.
Is it safe to keep my phone near magnetic items?
You’ll want to avoid placing your phone near magnetic objects like credit cards, hotel keys, or boarding passes, or medical devices. The magnets in your device can damage or deactivate them. Keeping a safe distance helps prevent any issues.
