If your iPad is compatible with iOS 12 or higher (before iPadOS 13, the operating system for iPad was called iOS, not iPadOS), you should be fine with most apps. If you have an iPad that’s compatible with systems up to iOS 12, you’ll only be able to do a few things, and many apps will no longer work, including:
- Some social networking apps, like Tumblr
- Some business apps, such as Outlook, ParkMobile, and Scanner App
- Entertainment apps, such as SoundCloud or Audible
The following iPads are compatible with iOS 12 (previous to iPadOS 13, iPad OS was referred to as “iOS”), but cannot be upgraded further:
The below devices will have further limitations as they do not support recent enough operating systems to allow for the majority of applications to be downloaded or function. They will work with the applications that come pre-installed (think: Safari, calculator, calendar, etc.) but you will not be able to download any applications.
