How does buying gift cards work?
Anyone can buy a digital gift card on Back Market — just log in or create an account to get started. Choose an amount between $20 and $500, customize it, and you're good to go. A few things to keep in mind: gift cards are non-refundable, there are no extra fees or taxes (what you pay is what you get), and once you send it, we might not be able to cancel it before it's used. So double-check that email address before hitting send.
Limitations for buying gift cards
Payment methods: You can’t use “Buy now, pay later” payment methods or PayPal for gift card purchases.
Purchase limits: You can only purchase 1 gift card per transaction.
How does receiving a gift card work?
If you received a gift card, you'll need a Back Market account to redeem it. Enter your gift card code at checkout, and if your purchase costs more than the gift card amount, just cover the difference with your preferred payment method.
Limitations for receiving gift cards
One discount at a time: You can’t combine gift cards with promotional codes.
Single use only: Gift cards are single-use, so if you don't spend the full amount in 1 purchase, you'll lose the leftover balance. Make sure to use it all in one go.
Expiration: You have 6 months to use your gift card. Check your gift card email for the exact expiration date. Once it expires, we can't reactivate it.
Didn’t receive the gift card?
Check your spam folder and confirm the email address you used. If you still don't see the code, contact our customer support team.
Can I send gift cards to someone in a different country?
Nope. Gift cards only work in their original marketplace, so buy on the site where it'll be used. For example, a US gift card only works on backmarket.com, not on the UK or French sites.
How do returns work with a gift card?
You can return items bought with a gift card within 30 days of receipt, even if there's nothing wrong with them.
Here's how refunds work:
If you’re returning your entire order: You'll get a new gift card sent to your email for the full amount.
If you’re returning part of your order: We'll split your refund proportionally between your original payment methods. For example: you spent $100 total ($50 gift card + $50 credit card) and returned a $50 item. You'll get $25 back to your credit card and $25 as a new gift card.
