- Keep your phone in direct sunlight for too long
- Use features like GPS, navigation, augmented reality apps, or games in particularly hot conditions or in direct sunlight for long periods
My phone heats up when certain features and apps are running, is this normal?
Don’t worry, this is totally normal! Your device can become warmer than usual when you:
- Set it up for the first time
- Restore it after a backup
- Use it while it’s charging
- Charge it wirelessly
- Use apps that require a lot from your phone such as augmented reality apps and games with intense graphics
- Use your hotspot
- Stream videos, especially in high quality

Set the brightness and color temperature to your preference in Settings
- Go to Settings > Display & Brightness
- Drag the slider left and right to adjust the brightness
- Here you can also turn on other options such as Dark Mode, True Tone, and Night Shift
- Dark Mode: Gentle and easy on the eyes. Dark Mode makes use of a dark color scheme that works with your device’s apps as well as third-party ones.
- True Tone: Your default bestie! True Tone adjusts the color and intensity of your screen based on ambient light. In other words, when you’re in a dark place the screen will brighten, and when you’re in a bright place, the screen will dim.
- Night Shift: On the warmer end of the spectrum, Night Shift is also easy on the eyes. You can enable it by going to Settings > Display & Brightness > Night Shift. Here you’ll find the color-temperature slider.
