What happens when I delete my account?
When your Back Market account is deleted, the following will happen immediately:
- You will permanently lose access to all information and data stored in your account, including your message history, price alerts, order history, order details, and trade-in records
- Deleted messages cannot be recovered. If you delete your account, all messages exchanged with sellers or Customer Care are permanently lost and cannot be retrieved, even if you create a new Back Market account later
- You will no longer receive follow-up communications from Back Market about any past or pending orders
Before deleting your account, Back Market recommends downloading all documents related to your orders, such as receipts, proof of payment, and order confirmations.
Some of your data may be retained for a certain period of time after deletion if a recent purchase or trade-in has occurred. See the Back Market Privacy Policy for full details on data retention
How do I delete my Back Market account on the website?
To delete your Back Market account using the website:
- Log in to your Back Market account at www.backmarket.com
- Go directly to the account deletion page
- Select “Delete my account” to start the deletion process
- Read through the confirmation steps carefully — account deletion is irreversible
- Check the box confirming that you understand and intend to delete your account
- The "Delete my account" button will become active once the box is checked — select it to confirm
- Your account will be permanently deleted and you will be redirected to the Back Market homepage
How do I delete my Back Market account on the mobile app?
To delete your Back Market account using the Back Market mobile app (iOS or Android):
- Log in to the Back Market app
- Go to “Account”, then tap "Profile"
- Scroll down and select "Delete my account" to start the deletion process
- Read through the confirmation steps carefully — account deletion is irreversible
- Select "Delete my account forever", then confirm your decision by tapping "Delete"
- Your account will be permanently deleted and you will be redirected to the Back Market homepage
What if I'm unable to delete my account?
Some Back Market accounts are not eligible for self-deletion. Your account cannot be deleted if any of the following conditions apply:
- Outstanding balance in your Back Market Wallet (Back Market Wallet is the in-platform credit balance linked to your account)
- A pending order that has not yet been delivered or resolved
- A pending trade-in (a device you have sent in for resale that has not yet been processed)
- An open help request that has not been resolved
- An active Protection Plan (a coverage plan purchased through Back Market)
- An order placed within the last 30 days, as the 30-day change-of-mind return window (the period during which you can return a product for any reason) is still ongoing
If one or more of these conditions apply to your account, Back Market will display a pop-up message explaining why your account cannot be deleted at this time. In this case, you will need to contact Customer Care for further assistance.
