Requirements to have an Affirm account
Splitting your payments with Affirm
We’ve partnered with Affirm to give you the option to split your payments for every single item on Back Market — yes, you heard that right!
You’ll be able to see if you qualify to pay in installments during the checkout process with no impact on your credit score. If you accept the terms, you’ll receive an email from Affirm after your purchase with more info on how to make your monthly payments.
Please note that after you complete your order, you'll handle the payments directly with Affirm — either in their app or on their site.
What are the requirements for an Affirm account?
- 18 years or older (19 years or older in Alabama or if you’re a ward of the state in Nebraska)
- A valid U.S. or APO/FPO/DPO home address
- Note: Affirm is not currently available to Iowa and West Virginia residents
- A valid U.S. mobile or VoIP number
- Full name, email address, date of birth, and the last 4 digits of your US social security number
Does Affirm charge interest or fees?
Besides interest, Affirm doesn’t charge any other fees. This means no late fees, no prepayment fees, no annual fees, and no fees to open or close your account. Depending on the size of your purchase and where you’re shopping, your payment plan may include interest. You’ll never owe more interest than what you agree to on day 1.
Affirm's interest rates on Back Market will vary between 10–30% APR. Depending on your financial history, a down payment may be required for the order and is subject to an eligibility check and approval — but even if this is needed, your credit score still won't be impacted.
The payment options depend on your purchase amount, and the estimated payment amount excludes taxes and shipping fees. Actual terms may vary. Payment options through Affirm are provided by these lending partners.
And, of course, your information will always be kept secure via encryption. Visit Affirm’s Help Center for more info.
