How do I best describe the condition of my device when I trade it in?

An accurate description of the condition of your device and its features is crucial for a fast and smooth trade-in process because the condition of your device determines the amount that will be offered to you. To help you assess your item, you’ll find a detailed description of each grade by category and illustrated with photos.

There are 4 different grades to describe what shape your device is in: Flawless, Good, Used, and Cracked. These grades are based on how your device looks and how well it works.

What if my device’s conditions have changed since completing the assessment and before shipping?

If your device's condition has changed (e.g., new scratches, damage, or functionality issues), please do not ship your device yet.

Instead, complete a new Trade-in assessment with the updated condition details.

A smartphone is 100% functional if:

Defaults related to screen functionalities shall not lead to consider the device as not functional but as cracked.

Appearance

Flawless appearance with no visible scratches. Screen has no defective pixels (e.g. ghost touch, screen burn-in, dead pixels), and the touchscreen works.

A few faint signs of wear, not noticeable from 8 inches away. No cracks or dents. Screen has no defective pixels (e.g. ghost touch, screen burn-in, dead pixels) and the touchscreen works. There are no scratches, cracks, or dents on the camera lense(s).

Visible signs of wear, including deep scratches and/or dents on the outside of the device. No cracks. Screen has no defective pixels (e.g. ghost touch, screen burn-in, dead pixels) and the touchscreen works. There are signs of wear on the camera lense(s) but it doesn’t impact the picture quality.

The screen and/or back/side/camera has one or more cracks and may or may not be 100% functional. Note a screen that is 100% functional has no defective pixels (e.g. ghost touch, screen burn-in, dead pixels) and the touchscreen works.

A tablet is 100% functional if:

Flawless appearance with no visible scratches. Screen has no defective pixels (e.g. ghost touch, screen burn-in, dead pixels), and the touchscreen works. There are no scratches or marks on the camera lense(s) or casing.

A few faint signs of wear, not noticeable from 8 inches away. No cracks or dents. Screen has no defective pixels (e.g. ghost touch, screen burn-in, dead pixels) and the touchscreen works.

Visible signs of wear, including deep scratches and/or dents on the outside of the device. No cracks. Screen has no defective pixels (e.g. ghost touch, screen burn-in, dead pixels) and the touchscreen works.

The screen and/or back/side has one or more cracks and may have defective pixels, ghost touch, screen burn-in, dead pixels, touch issues.

A console is 100% functional if:

Controllers declared by the customer during the assessment must be functional and their appearance state must have a "Used", "Good", or "Flawless" appearance

Flawless appearance with no visible scratches. Screen has no defective pixels (e.g. ghost touch, screen burn-in, dead pixels), and the touchscreen works.

A few faint signs of wear, not noticeable from 8 inches away. No cracks or dents. Screen has no defective pixels (e.g. ghost touch, screen burn-in, dead pixels) and the touchscreen works.

Visible signs of wear, including deep scratches and/or dents on the outside of the device. No cracks. Screen has no defective pixels (e.g. ghost touch, screen burn-in, dead pixels) and the touchscreen works.

The screen and/or back/side has one or more cracks and may have defective pixels, ghost touch, screen burn-in, dead pixels, touch issues.

A MacBook is 100% functional if:
- The device turns on, turns off, and charges without any issue.
- The speakers and microphones work perfectly.
- The keyboard, trackpad and all ports (USB, Power, HDMI) work perfectly.
- All other features including Camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. work perfectly.

Important: We don't accept bent and/or oxidized items. iCloud account and all passwords must be disconnected.

Shows visible signs of wear, including sticker marks, deep scratches. Has one or more cracks and may or may not be 100% functional. Note a screen that is 100% functional has no defective pixels (e.g. ghost touch, screen burn-in, dead pixels)

A Laptop is 100% functional if:
- The device turns on, turns off, and charges without any issue.
- The speakers and microphones work perfectly.
- The keyboard, trackpad, and all ports (USB, Power, HDMI) work perfectly.
- All other features including Camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. work perfectly.

Note: For laptops, we only check functionality - no appearance inspection is required.

An audio device is 100% functional if:

Flawless appearance with no visible scratches.

A few faint signs of wear, not noticeable from 8 inches away. No cracks or dents.

Visible signs of wear, including deep scratches and/or dents on the outside of the device, which do not affect its functionality. No cracks.

May have at least one crack or is visibly broken.
